4th May 2003 - The Wife's
Gone to Ikea
My wife fancied a trip to Ikea, so rather
than trudge round the 'Museum of Crappy Furniture' with her, I went and took a
look at the nearby Midland Metro Tram system.
5th May 2003 - Bank Holiday
Stuff
Out and about on what turned out to be an
interesting Bank Holiday Monday
6th May 2003 - 47150 on the
Cars
47150 had spent the Bank Holiday weekend down
at Dagenham and was favourite to work 4M26 to Crewe, which at the time was
sometimes booked via the MML.
10th May 2003 -
Wellingborough and Glendon
Early start for a shot of 47733 with the ECS
for a steam charter from Kettering. Stayed in the area for a few more sunny
shots and then headed off to Corby as BR blue 56006 was on the Aldwarke scrap
train. Sadly, no sunny shots of the 56 were captured.
11th May 2003 - 47150 at
Melton Mowbray
After suffering some sort of failure that
resulted in the loco receiving large wheelflats, 47150 was dumped at Melton
Mowbray awaiting road transfer to Toton.
15th May 2003 - Pre-Work
Spoon Action
The chance to photograph a Res 47 on a Leeds
to Par charter before work was not to be missed and the train was duly nailed at
Cossington.
16th May 2003 - 87001's
First Outing in BR Blue
Over to Stafford for some night phots as
87001 was on her first day in traffic since being painted in BR blue. The GNER
90 was also captured on a southbound TPO.
26th May 2003 - Random Rugby
Shot
A random shot of a southbound 87 at Rugby.
The weather around this time was not great, and this was the only sunny shot
captured on this day, and the first sunny shot since the 47 at Cossington on the
15th.
30th May 2003 - Midlands
Stuff
Knocked off work early as 37674 was heading
towards me on a Rugby to Toton cwr train. I then decided to spend the rest of
the day in the Rugby area as the weather was mega.
31st May 2003 - Crewe Works
Open Day
I didn't go to the actual open day, instead I
spent the day chasing round after some of the specials that were heading to and
from Crewe.
