Last Stand
Rotting away in the storage lines waiting for
the scrapman at Barrow Hill was the unique Mainline liveried class 31 number
31407. A team of EMRPS members led by Phil Chilton and Mark Slater polished the
locos paintwork, replaced missing windows and other items, and made the loco
presentable for one last photo call. My own personal contribution to this
project was hand painting the word 'Mainline' on the side of the loco using
silver Hammerite paint. Many thanks to Phil, Mark and the rest of the gang who
helped do the loco up, and to Mervyn at Barrow Hill and FM Rail for allowing us
to drag the loco out and give her one last night in front of the cameras. 31407
eventually left Barrow Hill to be scrapped on the 4th July 2006.
18th February - Blue Pullman
