37411 'Caerphilly Castle', Newport, 13th May
2006 (5N34 1828 Newport to Cardiff Central)
Nikon D50, 70-300mm f4-5.6 Nikkor G lens
I normally frown upon photographs that don't
include a decent horizon, but I was having a 'Captain Flap' moment when I took
this shot. Basically, the weather had been cack all day, and I had walked back
to the car with the intention of going home. But while 37411 was sat in Newport
station, the sun managed to come out, and as the train pulled away I suddenly
realised that it was going to stay out long enough for a phot. So I ran to the
bridge, did a mega fast lens change and literally did a 'point and shoot'. That
said, I actually quite like the shot! After this, the sun seemed to burn off
quite a bit of cloud, so I stayed in Newport and managed a few more shots before
the sun set for the evening.
