37609 and 37606 were en route back to Derby
RTC with a 1Z18 test train and were easily pulled in after work in the evening.

A cross between a walk with the dog and a
desire to get the new cleared out shot off of the footbridge at Bagworth (well
I'm hardly likely to admit to going out especially for two class 66's am I?)

Tramtastic Day
With a good forecast, and with anything
decent on the railways involving a mega drive, I went into lazy mode and had a
tram session at Nottingham in the morning, followed by Crich Tramway Museum in
the afternoon. Nottingham was a disappointment as one of the shots I really
wanted to do was of a southbound tram entering the Old Market Square, but this
location turned out to be in the midst of a mass reconstruction. However, I did
manage some shots of Nottingham Bus depot which used to be the depot of the
Nottingham Corporation Tramways, and here most of the tram tracks can still be
seen in the depot floor. In the afternoon, Crich turned out to be very fruitful
in terms of shots, mainly due to the failure of Leeds 180 which necessitated the
use of the Blackpool loco to rescue it, and also the removal of London Transport
1622 from the shed so that Leeds 180 could be put inside, thus enabling a top
portrait shot of 1622 to be taken while it was being shunted.
10th September 2006 - Abbey
Pumping Station
An Arts and Crafts Gala at the Abbey Pumping
Station in Leicester saw the narrow gauge railway in use.
17th September 2006 - GCR
Diesel Gala
The Sunday of the annual GCR Diesel Gala was
blessed with some nice sunshine for part of the day.
23rd September 2006 - EMRPS
'Double Grid' Night Shoot
A night shoot at the Nene Valley Railway's
Wansford station with 56057 and 56003. A big thank you to the owners of the two
class 56's, the staff at the Nene Valley Railway, the participating
photographers and the EMRPS lighting crew (another top job guys).
24th September 2006 - Disney
on Ice
My wife and daughter went to see Disney on
Ice at the Nottingham Ice Arena, which meant that 'Mr Free Taxi' here was left
with time to kill in Nottingham. So a quick visit to the Midland Railway Centre
and a few tram shots were the order of the day.

Blackpool Illuminations
I took the family for a long weekend to
Blackpool to see the illuminations. The first set of photographs were taken on
the last day of September and are shown below, but for the remainder, please go
