1980's Depot Shoot, Midland Railway Centre
An EMRPS night shoot at the Midland Railway
Centre where the engine shed at Swanwick was transformed into a 1980's BR depot
for the evening. The event was organised by the EMRPS and the Class 20
Locomotive Society with a lot of help and cooperation from the other diesel
groups based at the MRC. There were many shots to be had throughout the evening,
with the main focus being on recreating a typical 1980's depot scene. We also
staged a shot of a permanent way train outside Swanwick Junction signalbox
featuring 20001 and 20227 as a pair (probably the last chance to get 20001 in BR
blue paired with 20227 as it is planned to paint 20001 in BR green). A big thank
you to all the participating photographers for their support, the EMRPS lighting
crew for another 'Premier League' display, the volunteers of the Class 20
Locomotive Society (who worked tirelessly throughout the day) and the members of
the other diesel loco groups at the MRC who supported this event. A special
mention must also be made of Paul Warden, for his efforts in setting up this
photo shoot. The full list of locos used during the event were 45041, 47401,
20001, 20227, 31108 and 37314.

30th December 2006 - Fylde
Tramway Society Christmas Tour
I had a day by the sea to photograph and ride
on Blackpool Standard 147 which was booked top work a tram tour for the Fylde
Tramway Society. However, 147 failed at the last minute with a
compressor fault and was replaced by Bolton 66. It was a shame that 147 failed,
but I have to say that the day was still enjoyable despite this initial
disappointment. I would like to say a big thank you to the
organisers for a pleasant day out, and special mention must be made of the tram
driver who had to bear the brunt of the wind and rain on the exposed controls of 66. I
only managed one sunny shot of 66, but I have included some of the dull shots as
black and white images. After the tour, I took a little time to photograph a
couple of Centenary cars on the very reduced winter service. I would never drive
all the way to Blackpool to photograph Centenarys in the winter, but thought
that I might as well take the opportunity of grabbing a couple of shots while I
was there to show what the tramway is like in the winter months. I still think
Centenary Cars are crap though!
