1st May 2007 - Raspo Evening
A last minute dive out of work for a mad
drive to Tamworth saw 37406 nailed on 6G45 as it stormed through Tamworth High
Level - but only just! The train was actually entering the platforms at about
60mph when I reached the top of the stairs from the Low Level platforms! It was
then off to Grendon for 87028 on 1S96, 57003 on 4S59 and 66402 on 4S45.
5th May 2007 - Fylde Tramway
Society Convention 2007 (Day 1 - Depot & Works Visit)
The annual convention of the Fylde Tramway
Society saw an organised tour of the Blackpool Transport Tram Depot and
workshops. I couldn't resist attending in the hope of getting some photos that
you wouldn't normally be able to get. After the tour, 'Princess Alice' took most
of the FTS members up to Fleetwood for their AGM, and after chasing this for a
couple of shots, I spent the rest of the day photographing trams along the prom.
The tram output was disappointing, mostly refurbished stuff, but all four
operational boat cars were out along with three Balloons, all four Millenium
cars, several Brush cars and a few Centenary 'shoeboxes'.
7th May 2007 - Fylde Tramway
Society Convention 2007 (Day 3 - Sheffield 513 Tram Tours)
The annual convention of the Fylde Tramway
Society day 3 saw Sheffield 513 make three round trips from North Pier. I rode
on the second tour of the day, and was also on hand to take a few photographs of
the other two trips. As well as 513, Standard 147 and Bolton 66 were out on
specials.
8th May 2007 - EMRPS Charter
at the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway
A photo charter with 37219 on a ballast train
at the GWR. Not the best of days for weather, but the occasional burst of
sunshine got us some decent shots. Big thanks to Ian for setting this one up,
the GWR staff and volunteers for their hard work and to all the paying
photographers for their continued support.
12th May 2007 - Dub Dub on
the Doorstep
50049 was working a Tyseley to Havant
railtour, which was photographed just a few miles from home at Narborough.
12th May 2007 - Midland
Railway Centre - Chopperfest
The Class 20 Locomotive Society were
celebrating 50 years of the class 20's. Lots of static stuff to photograph, and
six visiting class 20's meant there was plenty to go at. However, it was one of
those iffy days for the weather with a mix of sunshine and cloud. As a
consequence I had no luck while attempting to take lineside shots and lost the
sun every time.
12th May 2007 - Crich
Tramway Village
After struggling to get a sunny lineside shot
at the Midland Railway Centre, rather than heading for home, I decided to call
in at Crich to see what was operating. I was very pleased to see Chesterfield 7
in operation, as this was the first time I had seen it being used.
26th-30th May 2007 - South
West Holiday
This long weekend was really more of a family
holiday, but when the opportunity did arise for a spot of railway photography,
there was either nothing interesting to photograph, or the weather let me down.
There really were too many occasions when the shot was fully lit five seconds
after the train passed!
