5th August 2007 - Trams and
a Van
After waking early to find the sky clear and
blue, I needed to find something to phot. No local railway workings of note, so
I decided to spend the morning photographing Nottingham trams. The afternoon was
then spent on a family outing in order to earn some brownie points, but I had
selected the location for our family day out very carefully so as to be able to
easily drop on 87028 on a railtour on the ECML on the way home!
10th August 2007 - Early
Morning Ying-Ying!
A pre-work half hour at Cossington. I was
actually after the Toton to Forders train which didn't show while I was there,
but this shed turned up on a Mountsorrel to Elstow stone working.
11th August 2007 - The Quest
for Eurostars
Since plans were announced to move
international passenger services from Waterloo to St Pancras, photographs of
Eurostars going in and out of Waterloo have been on my shopping list. So, with a
good forecast, it was off to London to get a few Eurostars 'in the can'. There
was also ample opportunity to photograph some third rail units, some London
Underground stock and also to sample the Croydon Tramlink. With a fair bit of
sunshine, and top company during the day, it was a very enjoyable day out. The
icing on the cake was being given access to the 8th floor of Canterbury House
which overlooks Waterloo station, for which we were all very grateful.
16th August 2007 - 37410
A railtour from Derby to the Eastbourne
airshow featured class 37 haulage, and I was able to dive out of work for a few
minutes to try and nail it at Cossington. Sadly, the light was very poor when
it passed, so don't be fooled by this picture as it has been heavily tampered
with in order to look far sunnier than it actually was. I then took a night shot
of it returning at Leicester.
18th August 2007 - More Fake
Sun! (plus a few night shots)
Anymore of this fake sun and I'll get a fake
tan!!!
This time it is the turn of 50049 working a Tyseley to Eastbourne charter at
Wigston South Junction. Then to Kettering in the hope of a night shot of it's
return working.
24th August 2007 - Oops,
Missed It!
Made a dash over to Elford for 47813 and
47714 on a stock move to Brush and missed it by minutes - d'oh! Nothing much
else of note was about so came away with a handful of shed shots.
25th August 2007 - North
Lincolnshire Freight
I aborted plans for a day in Blackpool due to
the weather and headed east instead. The plan was to do a few shots around
Barnetby, then go for the DRS 47's on the Grand Central training runs. However,
the DRS 47's were a no show, so I stayed put in the Barnetby area where Load
Haul liveried 60059 was on the iron ore circuit.
28th August 2007 - Fleetwood
Market Tuesday
I really wanted a shot of Blackpool Balloon
car 719 which had recently been outshopped in a stunning advert for the new In
Fusion ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. So, I chose to go to Blackpool on a
Tuesday when there are extra trams for the Fleetwood Market. The plan very
nearly backfired though as it turned out to be a very cloudy day. 719 was
playing ball though and was in service, and thankfully by 3pm, the skies
eventually cleared allowing me to nail 719 several times. There has also been
several other trams that have received new liveries or had advert vinyls removed
recently, and I also managed to nail 631 in Walls Ice Cream livery, 643 in G
Casino livery and 723 in plain red.
29th August 2007 - Slaps to
Skeggy
A pair of DRS class 20's worked a railtour to
Skegness. I was unable to do them during the day as I was at work, but I did
manage to get across to Rauceby for the return in the evening. As is so often
the case with one shot moves, the sun completely died at the wrong moment much
to my annoyance, so this photo is one of my 'fake sun' shots. These fake sun
shots are just a bit of fun, and nothing like the real thing.
