1st December 2007 - Hotch
Potch Livery
In the current image concious days of the
privatised railway, I find it shocking that a new franchise holder can output a
train in this condition. This unit is now operated by Arriva Cross Country, but
in the past has also worked for Midland Mainline and Central Trains. There are
bits of liveries from all three of these operators visible on this unit, and I
am sure it wouldn't have taken too much effort to either cover up or remove the
older vinyls before applying the Cross Country temporary logos.
29th December 2007 - Fylde
Tramway Society Christmas Bash
So far this month, the only sunny shot I have
had is of a Turbostar on the first day of the month. The 29th day of the month
was to be no different as I headed up to Blackpool. With a very fresh wind
coming off the Irish Sea and horizontal rain, the sun didn't manage to put in
many appearances, but with the tramway closed for winter track relaying, I guess
that didn't matter too much. The reason for my visit was the annual Fylde
Tramway Society Christmas bash. This took the form of a display of trams at
Rigby Road depot, short tram rides along Hopton Road and a vintage bus ride to
Fleetwood for a meal. The bus travelled via all the worksites so that
participants could view progress on the track work. I have included a couple of
shots from the tram depot, and a few shots of some of the track relaying. None
of these shots are anything more than record shots, but I include them for
reference and also to bolster my December 2007 page which is going to look
rather empty without them. Where possible, I have included a shot taken at the
same location before the track was ripped up.
A big thank you to the FTS organisers for a very enjoyable day out.
