2nd March 2008 - New Shot at
Wigston
Thought I would take a look at a new shot
that has been opened up by Network Rail at South Wigston station near Leicester.
There were no special or interesting workings due through, just run of the mill
units and diverted Voyagers, but it's a new shot, and one to bear in mind for
the future should any decent workings happen to pass this way.
8th March 2008 - Dawn Grid
Went to Birmingham International to
photograph a pair of 37's on a tour. Unfortunately, due to some pikies nicking
some signalling cable, the tour started from New Street and I never even saw it.
However, due to the problems with the signalling, 56301 was found to be waiting
at Birmingham International for a path north, so I still went home reasonably
happy!
15th March 2008 - Worth a
Soaking!
Probably the worst weather we have ever
experienced during an EMRPS photo shoot. It rained constantly throughout the
event, and everyone who took part got absolutely soaked through. Despite this,
we managed some very nice shots with the rain adding a very special sparkle to
our night shots. A massive thank you to the loco crews and to the lighting team
for keeping going despite the awful weather, your efforts were very much
appreciated.
22nd March 2008 - Blackpool
Trams Return to the Prom
After a winter with no trams due to extensive
track renewal, the trams returned to the promenade in Blackpool over the Easter
weekend. Some of the track renewal was not completed in time for Easter, and as
a result trams only operated between Starr Gate and Cabin. Six trams operated
the timetabled service along with three other trams on specials. The former
'McDonalds' tram 723 was in service but now resplendent in a new advert that
consisted of 1980's style green and cream as it's base coat. To make the day
complete, 700 was also out and about on the timetabled service.
30th March 2008 - A Second
Try at the Nottingham Eye
A second attempt at getting some photographs
of trams from the Nottingham Eye, this time with a slightly better light angle
than what I ended up with on my last attempt in February. There was also ample
opportunity to photograph a few trams from ground level, though it was
disappointing to only photograph advert liveried tram 201 once in the sun - it
seemed to be a bit of a cloud magnet!
