12th April 2008 - Local Stuff
A few local workings that were worth hanging around for. First of all, in the morning, 'Duchess of Sutherland' worked a Leicester to Scarborough railtour, followed a couple of hours later by 47787 and 47826 on another railtour. The 47's were in cloud, and although the Duchess was in sun, the smoke blew down and knackered the shot, so the day did not get off to a very good start. Later in the day, things improved with 60044 on a Mountsorrel to Sandiacre ballast at Loughborough. The sun was doing its best to clear as the train approached, but the back end of the train didn't quite get lit. It could have been much worse I suppose. Next up, a few shots of the GCR diesel gala including large logo 37314, which was in squiffy sun southbound, but came back north in top evening light. Finally, 40145 passed through the area, and although it was in top light at East Goscote, the sun had squiffed up for the second shot at Cossington.

19th April 2008 - The Ice Cream Van is Back!!!!!
After a request from the EMRPS to repaint 25322 in it's unique 'ice cream van livery' that it carried in the 1980's, volunteers of the North Staffs Diesel Group and the Churnet Valley Railway got to work, and what a top job they have done. Although the loco is currently non operational, the EMRPS hired the loco for a day of photography at the Churnet Valley Railway (towed around by 33102). The day was mostly cloudy with very little in the way of sunshine. For this reason we are greatful to the Churnet Valley Railway for allowing us to set up a quick night shot with the loco in Cheddleton station at the end of the day, which in terms of quality photographs certainly saved the day for the photographers who took part.
A big thank you to everyone involved in returning the loco to this livery, and to the CVR crews for their efforts during the day. Thanks to the participating photographers and especially to Phil C and everyone who assisted him in lighting up the 25 for the night shot. It was wonderful to see this loco in this condition once again and it certainly stirred some childhood memories.
Included in this collection of images are pictures taken in dull light, something that I normally try to avoid putting on my site, but the loco just looked so totally mega, that I couldn't resist including them.

26th April 2008 - Local Tractor Fest
With a class 37 hauled railtour passing through my local patch and 37610 in action on the GCR, there was no need to step outside the county boundary.
