1st August 2008 -
Family holiday to the Isle of Wight
This year's family holiday was taken in the
Isle of Wight. In between doing stuff that the rest of the family wanted to do,
I managed to record quite a few images of the ex London Transport 1930 tube
stock that now operates the Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin line. The complete
collection from this holiday is on the July page.
10th August 2008 - Crich Wartime Weekend
Another excellent 'turn the clock back' event
at Crich Tramway Village, this time with a 1940's wartime theme. The weather
forecast wasn't very good, so I went there with the intention of having a few
rides and watching the activities rather than photographing. However, the
weather turned out to be much better than expected, so out came the camera. In
fact the weather improved so much that Blackpool 'Toastrack' 166 came out late
in the afternoon.
15th August 2008 - A Bit
of Local Activity
Three local shots, my first shot of a
Fastline 66 on coal, 57006 on a Cardiff Tidal to Hitchin train of scrap empties
and 59204 on a Southall to Healey Mills working.
16th August 2008 - Nedding Trip to London
A very enjoyable day in London photographing
a mix of mainline stuff and the London Underground spoilt only by a couple of
Underground staff who tried to stop me from taking photographs on the grounds
that I might be a terrorist (thick tw*ts!!!) Despite this, the asa got cranked
up on the camera, and quite a few shots were taken on the tube lines and on the
surface lines. In addition, several London terminii were visited along with the
Kingsway Tram Subway - a truly remarkable survivor considering it closed in
1952!
23rd August 2008 - Skeggy
Spoons and Other Bits
47773 dropped on to the Nottingham to
Skegness service, so a quick trip to Nottingham to have a crack at the ECS approaching
Nottingham station was in order.
24th August 2008 - Day
Trip to London
Although this was a family outing to London,
I did manage a handful of shots of the Underground as we moved around the city.
