4th September 2008 - Hope-ing for Some Sunshine
The opportunity arose for members of the EMRPS to once again visit the Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire to try and get some decent photographs in the works complex and raise a good deal of money for two of Lafarge's chosen charities. The day started cloudy, and the cloud just kept rolling over the hills getting thicker and thicker until the heaven's opened. There didn't seem to be much chance of a repeat of the sunny visit that we had in 2005. The best shot at Hope is at the south end of the complex just as the railway emerges from the loader. This shot is on at about 3pm, and right on cue at about this time a blue hole appeared, 20168 was lined up and the shot was duly nailed. They say good things come to those who wait, and the assembled photographers had waited over 5 hours for a shot of this quality.
In addition to this shot, we were allowed to pull out the stored 37680 for a few shots and steam loco 'Nunlow' was also pulled out of the loco shed and posed alongside the Sentinel diesel that replaced it at Hope back in the 1960's. It was a very enjoyable day and with the lack of sun for much of the charter, I ended up with two sets of images, arty shots that were taken while the light was poor, and then a set of 'proper' front three quarter sun lit shots once the sun appeared.
A massive thanks to Mervyn, Ian and Dave from Barrow Hill, Dai and his staff at Lafarge and the photographers who supported the event. In total, we raised £875 for charity which was split evenly between 'Ella's Fund' and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance.

13th September 2008 - Blackpool Trams
At last, a half decent forecast on a Saturday in Blackpool. The day started cloudy, but cleared out in the afternoon and ended with crystal clear blue skies. There were plenty of trams about too, a total of 35 trams operated during the day. After the sun had set, I decided to hang around for a few night shots at North Pier. Due to the cack weather this summer, this had been my first visit to Blackpool since Tram Sunday in July, but it had been well worth the wait.

14th September 2008 - Metropolitan Specials
Metrovick loco 'Sarah Siddons' and the 1938 tube stock were operating tours on the Metropolitan Line between Amersham, Watford and Harrow on the Hill. The forecast was quite good, so I couldn't resist making a move down south for a slice of the action.

20th September 2008 - East Anglia
A day spent in East Anglia to photograph 47813 on the Yarmouth 'drags'. There was also a nice bonus at the end of the day when 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' worked a steam special from Norwich to Liverpool Street.

27th September 2008 - Day in Didcot
I attended a night time photo charter organised by 30742 Charters at the Didcot Railway Centre and thought I might as well do a bit of photography around the Didcot area during the day. The fog didn't clear until lunchtime, so the morning was pretty much a waste of time. As well as the steam traction used during the night photo charter, 5029 'Nunney Castle' was also photographed as it passed through Didcot in the evening with a Mid Hants Railway to Solihull railtour. The night shoot was very enjoyable and it was nice to photograph Pannier tank 3650 in industrial livery. Yhanks to Martin and Phil for putting the shoot together.
