8th August 2009 -
Ped and Tugs
BR blue 31106 was working a Selhurst to Derby
test train, and after this was nailed at Market Harborough, there was
opportunity for shots of a couple of 60's on freights.
9th August 2009 -
Great Central Railway
Fairburn tank 42085 was in action at the GCR,
so I popped up there for a bit of early morning action before the exhaust
disappeared in the heat of the day.
15th and
16th August 2009 - Local Stuff
A mixed bag of local stuff including DRS 47's
on a Chesterfield to Paignton railtour, the newly restored N2 on the GCR, 60074
and a few other odds and ends.
22nd August 2009 - Blackpool
Trams
With a half decent forecast and with closure
of the Pleasure Beach to Starr Gate section of the Blackpool tramway only a few
weeks away from closure, I decided a day on the Fylde Coast was in order. I also
concentrated a bit of time on the street section in Fleetwood, as this is now
just a few months away from closure. Both sections are due to re-open in 2012,
but they will be very different by then.
29th August 2009 -
Upminster Depot Open Day and Other London Bits
A trip down to London, the main focus of
which was the open day at the District Line's Upminster Depot and the Docklands
Light Railway.
31st August 2009 -
A Ying and 47580
A steam tour over Harringworth Viaduct
involved the use of top liveried 47580. The return of this train from Melton to
Tyseley should have been steam loco 4953 double headed with 47580, but in the
event the 47 took charge of the train from Melton to Leicester where the Hall
was added. Also while I was out, I bumped into 6L66 at Stoke Marcroft to Harwich
wagon move behind 66704. It was quite backlit, but at least it was lit.
